Thomas Sowerby born abt.1839 in Stanwick, Cumberland later moved to Liverpool lived at 26 Mount Pleasant, Liverpoolfor most of his years here (for those that know Liverpool is oppisite the Adelphi Hotel)this was the registered and advertised company address, His workshop listed as 19 & 21 UpperNewington basicallythe was side entrance to his Mount Pleasantproperty as can be seen in this photo below.

In the 1881 census his Proffesion is recorded as a 'Billiard Table Maker' and lived there along with a large family including five sons at this point only the oldest 'John Sowerby'(17) is recorded as a 'Billiard Frame Maker'.
